The person using the app never pays
Not on a trial, not after a trial, not if a subscription lapses. The full AAC core (the home grid, tapping items, audio playback, the Echo character, search) is free by policy, and it stays free. A child will never see a “subscribe” message, and nothing already on their device is ever taken away because of a billing event.
The work that happens around the child is mostly free too. Building categories from your own photographs, recording your own voice, assigning them to a device and following how each person is doing are all on the free plan, with no monthly limit.
What a subscription buys is AI: having the pictures generated for you, insights read out of the data, translation into other languages, and, for practitioners, the tools for managing a caseload. Those are the parts that cost us money every time they are used, which is the whole reason they are the paid ones.

There is a free plan, and it is not a trial. Build as many categories as you like from your own photographs, add every caregiver and child in the household, and see how each person is doing. The paid plan adds one thing: AI.

One AI category covers the whole set of pictures in it, not one picture, so three a month is three new illustrated categories, each holding up to fifty items. Building categories from photographs you took yourself is never counted, on any plan.

Everything in a caregiver plan, plus the tools for working across a caseload. Scoped to your clients rather than to a single family, so there is no cap on how many children you support.

For organizations
Districts, schools and clinics
Priced per clinician seat, per year, by quote. One seat covers one SLP, OT or teacher, and there is no limit on how many students they support. Terms align to your fiscal year rather than to the day you signed, so a first term part-way through a year is prorated, and every renewal after it lands in one budget cycle.

A district seat carries the procurement, the reporting and the agreements your legal team will ask for; an individual subscription carries none of that and needs none of it. If you are one clinician buying for yourself, the Practitioner plan is the simpler route.
Two fields to start. Tell us your seat count and when your fiscal year begins and the quote comes back priced for what is left of it. Nothing is charged until you send a purchase order, and nothing renews on its own.
Trying it before you pay
Families don't need a trial. The free plan has no time limit, no card and no countdown, and it already includes building your own categories, recording audio, assigning them to a device, your whole household and daily activity. Use it for as long as you like. If you decide you want the AI, subscribe then. There is nothing to expire in the meantime.
Practitioners get a free week, one per email address, because there is no free version of a caseload, classes and the practitioner portal to try instead. Two limits during it, and we would rather say so up front than have you discover them: AI generation is capped at 10 images, and publishing a category to a learner's device is paid-only during that week. Everything you build is kept and deploys the moment you subscribe.
If a subscription later lapses you drop to the free plan rather than losing access: AI switches off, and building categories from your own photos, your saved categories and your household all keep working. Nothing is ever removed from a child's device because of a billing event. Resubscribing turns AI back on.
