The person using the app never pays
Not on a trial, not after a trial, not if a subscription lapses. The full AAC core (the home grid, tapping items, audio playback, the Echo character, search) is free by policy, and it stays free. A child will never see a “subscribe” message, and nothing already on their device is ever taken away because of a billing event.
What a subscription buys is the work that happens around the child: building categories, generating images and audio, recording your own voice, tracking progress, and, for practitioners, managing a caseload.

About the free trial
The trial runs for 7 days on either the monthly or annual plan, and there's one trial per email address. You get the Designer, custom audio, and most of the plan you picked.
Two things are held back until you subscribe, and we'd rather say so up front than have you find out: AI generation is capped at 3 categories during the trial, and publishing a category you built to a child's device is paid-only. Everything you build during the trial is kept, and it deploys the moment you subscribe.
If a subscription later lapses, the Designer and AI tools switch off, but nothing is removed from a child's device and every category you built stays in your account. Resubscribing turns everything back on.
