Rain Coming Tomorrow and I Have Three Properties

The weather app said heavy rain Wednesday and I believed it, which meant Tuesday turned into one of those days where I'm just quietly working through a mental checklist while Eli watches his show and Maya drags every stuffed animal into the hallway for reasons I stopped asking about.

We have three properties right now. Our Minneapolis house, a rental we have in Saint Paul, and the condo in Naples. And when a storm is coming, my brain goes to all three at once, which is not relaxing. So I've learned to just open epBode and actually deal with it instead of sitting there low-grade worrying.

The Saint Paul place was the most pressing. I'd already logged a task to check the basement for moisture and I went ahead and marked it done after actually going over there Tuesday morning. No water, which was a relief. I also added gutters to the list because the drainage over there has been iffy and I didn't want to find out the hard way. Tenant had also flagged a roof concern a few weeks back, so I got a contractor scheduled for next week. That one had been sitting on my mind longer than I'd like to admit.

Back home I did a few smaller things. The kitchen visual schedule Eli uses had a corner peeling up. I'd noticed it the day before and just fixed it Tuesday while he was at school. Those laminated schedules take a beating. I also checked the safety locks in the kitchen while I was already in there making breakfast, so that felt efficient in a boring-but-good way.

The Naples stuff I handled from my phone. HOA parking permit renewal came in the mail, did it online in about four minutes. Hurricane shutter inspection is done for the season. AC service is scheduled. That condo basically runs itself as long as I stay on top of the calendar, and epBode helps me remember it exists when my head is fully in Minneapolis mode, which is most of the time.

None of this is exciting. But the rain hit Wednesday and nothing flooded, nothing beeped unexpectedly, nobody called me panicked. That's the whole point. A boring storm is a successful storm.
